Aromatherapy

Aromatherapy is a highly enjoyable and therapeutically beneficial way to augment any massage session. Aromatherapy is the healing use of essential oils extracted from medicinal plants. Scent is a powerful tool for unlocking memories or forming new mental associations, and the use of oils during a session can promote relaxation and stress relief for both mind and body.

Although many folks are familiar with essential oils that are meant to be inhaled, these oils can also be massaged into the skin for more direct or targeted relief. I offer consultation on essential oils that may be most useful for clients who have no exposure to Aromatherapy, and I welcome input from clients who have a preference for oils that have benefited them in the past.

Craniosacral Therapy
Craniosacral is a gentle, hands-on approach with its original roots in osteopathy. The feeling can be so subtle that the receiver may wonder if their practitioner is even doing anything. However, the role and privilege of a craniosacral therapist are to listen intently for very subtle rhythms and to relate them to the health and disturbances found throughout the body.

Specifically, we listen for the rhythms of the cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) which bathes and cleans the brain’s meninges and spinal column. It swishes up and down our nervous system and is said to be the original life force energy. Blockages through the spine or cerebrum are points where the practitioner will listen and gently coax back a free-flowing CSF rhythm. While I am not a certified craniosacral therapist, I love this work and have completed multiple workshops. I continue to practice as I have seen beneficial results when treating clients with headaches, TMJD, and head-based traumas.

Deep Tissue Massage
Slower movements and firmer pressure work past superficial layers of tissue into deeper muscles, tendons, and ligaments where pain may originate. Deep tissue massage helps with chronic pain and muscle tension, postural issues, and other problematic areas; as well as increasing range of motion throughout the body.

I leverage various tools such as my forearms, elbows, and knuckles in order to apply diverse sensations and targeted pressure to different regions of the body. Trigger point therapy, pressure point work, or neuromuscular therapy are all methods that may be incorporated.

Intra-Oral Massage
Intra-Oral Massage consists of the practitioner working inside the client’s mouth using latex gloves. The focus is on the deep muscles in the jaw called the medial and lateral pterygoids, as well as any other muscle tension in the face and throat. Working from the inside out to release these very tight structures can have innumerable benefits.

I recommend Intra-Oral Massage for patients who are seeking to relieve tension headaches, migraines, and TMJ (temporomandibular joint) dysfunction. The treatment is helpful for clenching, grinding, painful jaw clicking, sinus problems, head injuries, whiplash, chronic ear congestion, tinnitus, or emotional trauma and chronic face and neck pain. It is an extremely beneficial modality and even helps in balancing the upper body.

Myofascial Release
Fascia is the glue that holds it all together. Removing all the bones, muscles, tendons, ligaments, and organs from your body would still leave your unique silhouette stitched together by fascia alone.

This almighty connector is not without its own tetherings and hangups, and often your fascia contributes to postural misalignments and pain. Myofascial release (MFR) focuses on releasing this tension build-up throughout the muscles. Like pulling on the edge of a wrinkled sheet in order to flatten out the opposite corner, MFR can unwrinkle you from head to toe. This therapy improves skeletal and muscular alignment and addresses pain in areas high in soft tissue such as the back, shoulders, or hips. MFR includes relieving iliopsoas muscle pain and its trigger points through incremental psoas release.

Reiki
Reiki means “Universal Life Force Energy”. Reiki energy flows in the physical body through channels or wheels called Chakras, Meridians, and Nadis. The life force nourishes our physical, mental, and emotional body. When it is disturbed by negativity, pain, depletion, and stress, it impacts our health. Reiki is a tool used to balance, strengthen, and protect our energy field and also our physical body.
Sports / Injury Treatment
Sports-related injuries or any muscular trauma or overstrain can benefit from focused treatment. Additionally, clients suffering from chronic headaches, poor posture, back, shoulder, or spinal pain, sciatica, shin splints, knee injuries, ankle injuries, and carpal tunnel syndrome may find relief with these targeted sessions. Injury treatment is centered on directly addressing soft tissue and repetitive-motion injuries, particularly those that previously have not responded favorably to other types of sports therapies.

Pressure is applied throughout the body to find the injured area, and range of motion/tightness is determined. Filaments, tendons, and ligaments are examined for any tears or breaks. Adeptly moving abnormal muscle tissue through its full range of motion will help relieve the surrounding tissues of any adhesions, knots, or scar tissue, which increases the free flow of blood, lymph fluid, and nerve conduction so the muscle will heal.

Swedish Massage

Looking for an introduction into healing massage practice? With gliding circular strokes of effleurage and the squeezing and kneading of petrissage, Swedish massage is a useful method for relaxing and assessing the body. This style utilizes soft pressure applied with hands and palms to gently warm the body’s muscles by kneading, tapping, bending and stretching. The lengthening and softening of the muscles releases tension and increases circulation of blood and the lymphatic system, reducing toxins and restoring healthy tissue.

Thai-Yoga and Table Thai
Thai Massage focuses on the major energetic meridians, also called Sen lines, which run throughout the human body. This style synthesizes physical massage techniques with energetic healing practices in order to harmonize the body’s energy, loosen blockages, and stimulate key pressure points with acupressure. Thai Massage has many benefits, but one of the biggest impacts I see for clients is the opening of the hip joints. With all the sitting we do these days, stretching and strengthening our pelvis is essential.

During a Thai Massage session, the client will lay on a floor mat or massage table in loose-fitting clothing that allows for gentle movement and stretching. Throughout the 90-minute to 2-hour session, the client’s body is moved into passive stretching poses that compliment the massage experience. The incorporation of these poses is why Thai Massage is often referred to as “assisted yoga.” During these poses, I will perform muscle compressions and anchoring of tissue with my hands, feet, knees, or elbows. Even though the client is being moved, the massage session should be a slow, rhythmic, and meditative experience.

Headaches to Healing Session → Free

If you’re considering massage therapy for headache pain, I invite you into a complimentary 30-minute conversation either before a session or over the phone. We’ll dig into your health history, explore your lifestyle patterns and known triggers, and start to develop a wellness plan together. Suffering from debilitating head pain can often feel isolating and disempowering, and I want to offer you new resources for sustained relief.

CBD Massage → $25 add-on
I offer CBD-infused massages using CHABA (Cannabis Health and Beauty Aids), a legislatively-created acronym for topically applied products that have less than 0.3% THC and are considered non-psychoactive. Using a localized cannabis cream can help alleviate arthritis, fibromyalgia, sports injuries, and neuropathy pain without the feeling of being high. CHABA do not cross the blood-brain barrier and are non-intoxicating. They are designed for localized treatment speaking to the CB2 receptors in the skin, not the CB1 receptors in the brain.

+ Onsite Chair and Table Massage

While computers and mobile devices are integral to modern life, all that screen time has a measurable impact on the shoulders, neck, and backs of digitally-engaged humans. Hunching over a desk can add up to 60 lbs. of additional pressure to your spine. Onsite workplace massage combats the damage done by constantly positioning your body to accommodate screens.

Contact us directly to inquire about onsite availability for corporate or small business workplace packages. For targeted massage treatments, a little maintenance work can go a long way for your employees. Taking a break and receiving even a brief massage can increase focus, work flow, and productivity.

Some occasions call for just a little extra healing. Whether it’s a conference, health fair, or holiday celebration, offering complementary chair or table massages will keep your guests happy and engaged. We also work closely with skin care specialists if you’d like to add facials to your event menu. Create memories and enhance the event experience through the gift of touch.
